Shiba Inu began as a joke built on Ethereum, a Dogecoin-style token with a dog mascot and an enormous supply. It is still a joke in the sense that it has no business model, yet it sits among the top forty coins by market value on CoinGecko, trades on every major exchange, and has its own asset tab in Binance's riyal P2P market. Saudi searches for "عملة شيبا" spike every time the price moves, which is why this page exists: to explain what you are actually buying, how to read a price with five zeros, where to buy it from the Kingdom, and where the traps are.
We checked CEX.IO's public market list, Binance's P2P announcements and the Islamic Finance Guru position on meme coins in October 2026. No prices are quoted in the text; the converter pulls the live SAR rate from CoinGecko.
What SHIB is, honestly
SHIB is an ERC-20ERC-20Ethereum's token standard. An ERC-20 token is a smart contract on Ethereum that tracks balances; moving it costs Ethereum gas. token on the Ethereum network. It does not run its own base blockchain the way Bitcoin or Tron do; it borrows Ethereum's security and pays Ethereum's fees. Over time the project built an ecosystem around the token, including its own layer-2Layer 2A separate network that processes transactions off the main chain and settles back to it, usually to cut fees. network called Shibarium. None of these changes the core fact: SHIB's value comes from attention and community, not from cash flows or a service people must pay for.
That is what makes it a meme coinMeme coinA cryptocurrency whose value rests on a joke, a mascot or a community rather than on a use case. Prices are driven by attention and can collapse as fast as they rise.. Compared with Dogecoin, the original meme coin from 2013, SHIB is younger, has a far larger token count, and lives on Ethereum rather than on its own chain. Compared with Ethereum itself, it is a passenger, not a vehicle.
Tiny prices and a lot of zeros
The first thing that confuses new buyers is the price format. Because the supply is counted in hundreds of trillions, one SHIB is worth a very small fraction of a riyal, and exchanges display it as 0.0000xx. Some apps compress the zeros into a subscript, so 0.0₅12 means "five zeros, then 12". The converter at the top of this page does the arithmetic the other way round: type an amount in riyals and it shows how many tokens that buys, usually a figure in the hundreds of thousands or millions.
after an estimated 3.99% fee. Figures are estimates and move with the market. Source: CoinGecko.
Two consequences follow. First, "SHIB is cheap because it costs less than a halala" is a mistake; what matters is the total market value, and by that measure SHIB is a large asset that would need to multiply many times over to reach even a fraction of a riyal. Second, the zeros make SHIB a favourite of social-media promoters, because "it only needs to reach 1 riyal" sounds plausible to anyone who has not done the multiplication. Do the multiplication.
The Saudi angle: a meme coin you can buy with riyals
Most meme coins are hard to buy from Saudi Arabia without first buying USDT and then hunting through a decentralised exchange. SHIB is different in two practical ways. It is listed on CEX.IO, which takes a Saudi card, and it has its own tab in Binance's SAR P2PP2PPeer-to-peer: you buy directly from another person on the exchange, which holds the coins in escrow until the seller confirms your bank or stc pay transfer. market, next to USDT, BTC, DOGE, TRX, ADA and PEPE. That second point matters because the riyal is pegged at 3.75 to the dollar: a Saudi buyer can price SHIB in riyals and settle through urpay or a bank transfer without ever touching a dollar.
Demand here follows the global pattern. Interest surges when the price moves, with Arabic queries such as "عملة شيبا" and "سعر عملة shiba" alongside the English ones, and fades in between. Saudi Arabia's crypto market is young, with roughly two thirds of the population under thirty, and meme coins are the kind of asset that spreads through WhatsApp groups and Snapchat. That is not a reason to buy; it is a reason to understand what you are doing before a group chat does it for you.
Where to buy SHIB from Saudi Arabia
No exchange is licensed in the Kingdom, so every route is an offshore platform that does not exclude Saudi residents.
| Route | How you pay | SHIB pairs or tab | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| CEX.IO (review) | Visa, Mastercard, Apple Pay in USD | SHIB/USD, EUR, GBP, USDT, USDC | Card fee 0.49%–4.99% + service charge; min 20 USD; 3,000 USD per transaction after ID. Served by CEX OVRS LLC (Nevis). |
| Binance (review) | SAR via P2P: urpay, Liv. KSA (official); stc pay, bank transfer in ads | SHIB tab in SAR P2P; deep spot pairs | 0.05 USDT taker fee per P2P order on USDT pairs; SHIB ads thinner than USDT, so many buy USDT then swap. |
| Bybit (review) | SAR P2P (mostly USDT), cards via processors | Spot pairs | Islamic Account is spot-only and screens tokens; meme coins may be excluded from it. |
| OKX (review) | SAR P2P (mostly USDT), cards | Spot pairs | Saudi Arabia not on OKX's restricted list; contracting entity for KSA not stated. |
Rain and CoinMENA, the Bahrain-licensed options with riyal rails, do not document SHIB on their public pages, so we do not list them. For a beginner with a Saudi card who wants a small position, CEX.IO is the shortest path; for anyone who already uses the riyal P2P desk, buying USDT and swapping is usually cheaper than the thin SHIB ads. Our exchange comparison covers the platforms in full.

Buy cryptoStep by step with a card
- Open and verify the account
Register on CEX.IO, enable two-factor authentication, upload a passport or national ID (acceptance of an Iqama alone is not documented, so expats should use the passport).
- Add a Saudi card or Apple Pay
Visa or Mastercard in your own name. Your bank converts riyals to dollars at its own rate and usually adds a foreign-transaction fee of around 2–3%.
- Instant Buy, choose SHIB
Enter the USD amount (minimum 20), review the price and service commission, confirm. The token count will look huge; that is the zeros at work.
- Decide where it lives
For a small speculative position many people leave it on the exchange. For anything larger, withdraw to a wallet that supports Ethereum tokens, such as Trust Wallet or MetaMask, and pay the gas once.
- Set an exit rule before you need it
Meme coins move fast in both directions. Decide in advance at what gain or loss you will sell, and use the sell guide when the time comes.
Network notes and Shibarium
Because SHIB is an Ethereum token, the default withdrawal network is Ethereum and the fee is paid in ETH gasGas feeThe network fee paid to process a blockchain transaction. On Ethereum it rises sharply when the network is busy., which can exceed the value of a small SHIB position when the network is busy. That is the main reason beginners keep small amounts on the exchange. Some platforms also offer SHIB withdrawals on BNB Smart Chain (a wrapped version) or on Shibarium, the project's own layer-2. Use those only when your wallet explicitly lists the same network; a token on the wrong chain is not interchangeable with the Ethereum original. The wallet guide explains which apps available in Saudi Arabia support Ethereum tokens.
Shibarium itself deserves one honest paragraph. It is a layer-2 network launched by the project to make transactions in its ecosystem cheaper than on Ethereum itself. For a buyer in Saudi Arabia it is mostly background: you do not need Shibarium to own or trade SHIB, and most exchanges still settle on Ethereum. Treat it as a feature of the ecosystem, not a reason to buy, and be especially wary of tokens that claim to be SHIB on Shibarium or other chains without a contract address you can verify on the official site.
The halal viewpoint on meme coins
No Saudi authority has ruled on SHIB, and general crypto rulings are already divided. Meme coins attract more caution than Bitcoin or Ethereum because the usual conditions scholars cite, a real underlying utility and the absence of gambling-like speculation, are precisely what they lack.
The speculative and gambling-like nature of these coins makes them highly problematic.— Islamic Finance Guru, resident scholar Mufti Faraz, article on meme coins (updated 2025)
The same article is careful not to go further: IFG writes that it does not view meme coins as haram, but neither does it consider them a particularly barakah-linked activity, and it notes that a coin that develops genuine utility could be judged like other cryptocurrencies. Other guides describe the dominant view as "problematic" under the rules on maysirMaysirGambling: gaining money purely from chance or from a zero-sum bet, prohibited in Islamic law. and ghararGhararExcessive uncertainty in a contract, such as not knowing what you are buying or what it is worth.. If this matters to you, the practical takeaways are the ones scholars repeat: spot only, no leverage, no borrowed money, and an honest answer to whether you are investing or betting. Bybit's Islamic Account, certified by ZICO Shariah, screens its token list, which is one way to see which coins a Sharia board was comfortable with.
Burn myths, fake tokens and other scams
SHIB's community is large, which also makes it a large target. These are the patterns to recognise.
Beyond scams there is the ordinary risk: SHIB can lose most of its value and stay there. Buy only what you can afford to write off, keep on exchanges only what you trade, and remember that neither CEX.IO nor Binance holds a Saudi licence, so no local protection applies. Our scams guide and the P2P guide cover the general rules; the top coins hub shows how SHIB compares with the other coins available here.
Frequently asked questions
Why does the SHIB price have so many zeros?
Because the supply is enormous, counted in hundreds of trillions of tokens, so each one is worth a tiny fraction of a riyal. Exchanges show the price as 0.0000xx and often use a shorthand such as 0.0₅xx, where the small digit counts the zeros. A few riyals buy a large number of tokens; nothing about that makes SHIB cheap or expensive in any meaningful sense. The converter above does the arithmetic for you.
Where can I buy Shiba Inu with riyals?
Binance P2P has a SHIB tab in its SAR market, with urpay and Liv. KSA as official payment methods and stc pay or bank transfers appearing in ads. Bybit and OKX also run SAR P2P markets, mostly in USDT, which you can then swap for SHIB. With a Saudi card or Apple Pay you can use CEX.IO, which quotes SHIB against USD, EUR, GBP, USDT and USDC.
Is Shiba Inu halal?
Scholars have not singled out SHIB, but they have addressed meme coins. Islamic Finance Guru and its resident scholar Mufti Faraz describe the speculative, gambling-like nature of meme coins as "highly problematic" because they lack inherent utility, while stating that IFG does not view them as haram. Several other guides call them problematic under the gambling and uncertainty rules. We do not rule; ask a scholar you trust.
Will burning tokens push the SHIB price up?
Not by itself. Burning removes tokens from circulation, but the amounts burned are usually a tiny share of the supply and the price is set by what buyers will pay. Posts claiming a specific burn will "take SHIB to one riyal" are marketing, not arithmetic. Treat any price target tied to burns as a red flag.
Which network should I use to withdraw SHIB?
SHIB is an ERC-20 token on Ethereum, so the standard withdrawal is the Ethereum network, which costs gas. Some exchanges also offer SHIB on BNB Smart Chain or on Shibarium; only use those if your wallet explicitly supports the same network. Sending SHIB to a wallet on the wrong network, or buying a token merely named SHIB on another chain, is the most common way people lose it.
Is it legal to buy SHIB in Saudi Arabia?
Crypto is unregulated rather than prohibited for individuals in the Kingdom. The 2018 Standing Committee statement says virtual currencies are not approved and nobody is licensed to deal in them; no exchange holds a Saudi licence and SAMA-supervised banks offer no crypto services. You can buy SHIB through offshore platforms, but without local investor protection.
